School board meeting preview

The Wauwatosa School Board will meet for its second meeting of the month on Monday, May 22, 2023. The meeting will be held at the Fisher Administration Building (12121 West North Ave.) in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. A link to the meeting livestream can be found here

The first order of business will be for the Board to recognize students from Wauwatosa East High School who are enrolled in American Public Policy Special Emphasis (APPSE) and participated in the national We the People competition in Washington, D.C.where they placed 28th. Students will be recognized with certificates honoring their achievement. Mr. Taylor McDaniel, social studies teacher at Wauwatosa East High School will also be recognized for his leadership related to APPSE. 

Then, following review and action related to the Consent Agenda and associated public comment, the Board will be asked to take action and approve the administrative contract for Dr. Stephen Plank as principal of Wauwatosa East High School. Prior to the vote, public comment will be heard on this action item.

The Division of HR will also ask the Board to approve the 2023-24 Staffing Plan and Additional Enhancements to the Teacher Compensation System. Prior to the votes, public comment will be heard on these action items. 

Then, the Board will be asked to approve the appointment of Dr. Lynne Woehrle to the Finance + Resource Committee, as well as  approve the Class of 2023 graduation candidates. Public comment will be heard on these action items. 

And finally, the Division of Operations + Finance will ask the Board to approve a Resolution Authorizing the Transfer of Funds, the Establishment of an Escrow Account with Respect to and the Defeasance of Certain of the Principal and Interest on the General Obligation School Building and Improvement Bonds, Series 2019A, dated March 6, 2019 and Certain of the Principal and Interest on the General Obligation School Building and Improvement Bonds, Series 2019B, dated March 6, 2019. Again, because this is an action item, public comment will be heard. 

Lastly, the Division of Finance + Operations will deliver its Monthly Financial Report.
