Both Wauwatosa East and Wauwatosa West High Schools have earned 2022 Advanced Placement Pacesetter Awards from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and Wisconsin Advanced Placement Advisory Council.
The Pacesetter Awards are presented to Wisconsin schools that have high participation in AP courses and high percentages of students who earn a score of 3 or higher on the AP exam. This year, 142 Wisconsin schools received recognition.
"On behalf of the Wauwatosa School District, I would like to extend my congratulations to our exceptional high school students for their outstanding achievements on the AP exams,” said Dr. Demond Means, Superintendent. "Our impressive levels of participation and success on AP exams across both of our high schools is a testament to the equity of educational opportunities offered in our district. Our hope is to continue empowering all our students, fostering their journey toward academic excellence.”
Drawing data from the 2021-22 academic year, the Pacesetter Awards are categorized into three levels, each determined by the combination of the AP student participation rate and the percentage of students achieving scores of 3 or higher.
Wauwatosa East achieved Level 1 of the award, with over 30% of the student body participating in at least one AP exam and 70% or more of those students earning scores of 3 or above. Wauwatosa West achieved Level 2 recognition, with 20% of all students engaging in at least one AP exam and 65% or more of those students earning scores of 3 or higher.
