School Board Meeting Preview - October 30, 2023

The Wauwatosa School Board will meet for its first meeting of the month on Monday, October 30, 2023. The meeting will be held at the Fisher Administration Building (12121 West North Ave.) in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. A link to join the meeting virtually via Zoom can be found here.

Immediately following the Call to Order, the Board will recognize students who have been named winners in the Harley-Davidson Brick Bay Contest, and students in the Wauwatosa West Band who recently achieved the school’s all-time high score at the 2023 Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) State Marching Band Championships.

Following this recognition, the Board of Education will allow up to 30 minutes for public comment (unless extended by the presiding officer or a vote of the Board), in accordance with revised Policy 0167.3 - Public Comment at Board Meetings. Pursuant to this policy, in-person and virtual attendees will have the opportunity to comment publicly during this time on any agenda or non-agenda item. Individual comments will be limited to three (3) minutes in length. Community members do not need to sign up to speak or submit their comment prior to the meeting. Please note that this will be the only opportunity for public comment during the meeting.

Then, four new Student School Board Representatives will take the Oath of Office.

The Board will then review and vote on the Consent Agenda.

Following this, the Division of Academic Performance will deliver its 2023 Summer School Report, followed by requests for action to approve the following:

Next, the Division of Finance + Operations will request Action to Approve the 2023-24 Budget and Certify the Tax Levy. This will be followed by the Finance + Resource Committee Report.

The Board will then conduct a second reading and/or Action to Approve Policy 5120.01 - Assignment Within District for Non-Resident Students.

Finally, the Superintendent will deliver an update regarding the Tosa 2075 Task Force prior to the Board’s adjournment into Executive (Closed) Session to discuss an investigation into allegations of misconduct by a School Board member.
