School Board Meeting Preview

The Wauwatosa School Board will meet for its first regular meeting of the month on Monday, January 8, 2024. The meeting will be held at the Fisher Administration Building (12121 West North Ave.) in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by an Executive (Closed) Session. A link to join the meeting virtually via Zoom can be found here.

Immediately following the Call to Order, the Board will recognize recipients of the 2023 Fieldwork Educator of the Year Award as well as all of the District’s National Board Certified teachers, Jefferson Elementary teachers and the Wauwatosa West Theatre Department for their production of Disney’s Frozen.

Following the recognition agenda item, the Board will allow public comment in accordance with revised Policy 0167.3 - Public Comment at Board Meetings. Please note that this will be the only opportunity for public comment during the meeting.

Following Public Comment, the Board will review and vote on the Consent Agenda and will then be presented with a first reading of the E4E (Education for Employment) Academic and Career Planning presentation.

The Board will then discuss Open Enrollment Seat Allocation for the 2024-2025 school year followed by an update by the Finance + Resource Committee and the Legislative Advocacy Committee.

Following this, the Board will be asked to approve the Designation of Dr. Jessup-Anger to Serve as the District’s Delegate to the Wisconsin State Education Convention

The Policy Committee will then bring Policy 8451 - Pediculosis (Head Lice) to the Board for a first reading, followed by second readings with the option to approve the following policies: Policy 8310 - Public Records, Policy 8320 - Personnel Records and Policy 8395 - Student Mental Health Services.

The Board will then adjourn into an Executive (Closed) Session to confer with legal counsel to consider strategy related to a lawsuit against the District brought by a School Board member, including possible settlement. The Board may reconvene in open session to take potential action on matters discussed in closed session.

Following this, the Board will adjourn.
