Fourth and fifth-graders are invited to compete in this year’s national Future Chefs competition by Sodexo! This fun event is intended to help educate kids in healthy eating habits.
To participate, students must submit a recipe card by Friday, March 7, 2025. Students may also request a printed recipe card from a Sodexo worker at their school.
Judges will then evaluate recipe submissions and narrow the number of finalists down to five students. Those finalists will be formally invited to a Culinary Competition Cook-Off on March 19, 2025, 5-7 p.m., at Wauwatosa West High School, 11400 Center St. All finalists will receive a participation medal, chef coat, apron, and hat.
Kitchen staff members also will be assigned to help student finalists to ensure safe food and preparation practices are followed. The local news media will be invited to take pictures of the kids’ creations, and parents and teachers can view (and taste!) the creations, too!
The winning recipe will be entered to win a national competition in April. Judging will be based on the following criteria:
Originality
Kid-friendly
Ease of preparation
Healthy attributes
Plate presentation
Taste
