Cap and diploma

Eleven students at Wauwatosa East and Wauwatosa West High School have earned the Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diploma™, based on the scores recently released from the 2023 AP® Exam administration.

The AP Capstone Diploma™ recipients at Wauwatosa East High School are Vivienne Andersen, Audrey Catlin, Olivia Close, Greta Krueger, Jade Morgan, Katherine Pluta, Elliot Richer, Gwendolyn Roter, Maddie Ruzicka, and Chandler Tribble. Wauwatosa West High School’s AP Capstone Diploma™ recipients are Jacqueline Beck, Emily Kramer, and Margaret (Daisy) Lehman.

To qualify for the AP Capstone Diploma™, students must earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, in AP Research, and on four additional AP® Exams of their choice. In the 2022-23 school year, approximately 15,800 students worldwide received the honor.

"We take immense pride in recognizing the outstanding achievements of our students who have participated in the AP Capstone Diploma™ program," stated Dr. Demond Means, Superintendent. "These students have demonstrated exceptional dedication throughout this impactful, multi-academic year program. This invaluable college readiness experience will continue to benefit our young scholars well beyond their high school years."

The assessments in AP Seminar and AP Research are project-based, evaluating mastery of skills through group projects, presentations, and individual essays completed over the course of the year. These courses are designed to be interdisciplinary, encouraging students to create research projects based on topics of personal interest. Students are assessed on critical thinking, research, collaboration, time management, and presentation skills, all of which are essential toward the successful completion of their projects.
