Ecker

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the Wauwatosa School District Board of Education approved Superintendent Dr. Demond Means’ recommendation to appoint Mr. Scot Ecker as the Chief Finance + Operations Officer.

His qualifications are a reflection of the values and priorities in Wauwatosa,” stated Dr. Eric Jessup-Anger, School Board President. “Mr. Ecker is truly the best fit to lead our Finance and Operational teams as we continue to enhance our public schools in Wauwatosa.”

Ecker is a Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations and brings more than 20 years of robust financial experience to this role, having served in several districts in southeastern Wisconsin including the Muskego-Norway School District. He has deep expertise in finance, budget, operations, project management, and data and analytics. Throughout his career, Ecker has earned a reputation as a strong communicator who is passionate about making school finance easier for stakeholders to understand. Most recently, Ecker served as a Lead Senior Analytics Advisor for Frontline Education. In this role, he developed and implemented financial forecasting tools and provided guidance to school business officials and superintendents to align financial goals with strategic plans. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and obtained a Master of Education - Athletic Administration degree from Eastern Kentucky University. Ecker also received a Master of Education in School Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, respectively. Ecker states, “I am thrilled to step into the Chief of Finance + Operations role for the Wauwatosa School District, where I eagerly anticipate contributing to financial excellence and student success.”

The District followed a robust screening and interview process including two interview teams. After the initial interviews, each team identified candidates strengths and areas of growth. Ecker was noted to demonstrate particular strengths in leading fiscal strategy and long-term planning, as well as monitoring financial health metrics. The teams were also excited about Ecker’s evidence of collaborative spirit. He also participated in secondary interviews with Division of Finance + Operations Administrators, Jessica Huinker and Kevin LaFountain, as well as interviews with Divisional Chiefs, Superintendent Dr. Demond Means, and board members Liz Heimerl-Rolland and Dr. Eric Jessup-Anger. 

Ecker’s contract begins in July 2024.
