The Wauwatosa West High School Marching Band achieved the school’s all-time high score at the 2023 Wisconsin School Music Association's (WSMA) State Marching Band Championships on October 14, 2023 at UW-Whitewater’s Perkins Stadium.
This year's performance marked a significant milestone in the band's history, as it concluded its third year as a competitive unit with a score of 70.8, earning the 18th position among a field of 30 competing bands.
Over the past three years, the band has shown significant improvement at the WSMA State Marching Band Championships. In its first year, the band scored 59.5, ranking 28th out of 30. In the following year, it achieved an impressive score of 61.7, moving up to 23rd place.
“The success of the West Marching Band is a testament to the hard work, talent, and dedication of our students, as well as the support of our community,” said Dr. Demond Means, Superintendent of the Wauwatosa School District. “We are immensely proud of their achievements and look forward to promoting their continued growth and success as we move forward.”
